Darth Vader is the face of the Empire’s power and terror, but what does he actually do? He’s not an admiral, he’s not a politician, and yet he seems to outrank everyone except the Emperor.

What’s wild is how much authority he wields while technically operating outside the formal military hierarchy. Whether he’s leading fleets, crushing rebellions, or hunting down Jedi, Vader’s role is as unique as it is terrifying. But where does that put him on the chain of command?
